Dr Anthony Faramelli is a Lecturer in Visual Cultures and the co-Programme Leader for the BA in Fine Art and History of

Dr Anthony Faramelli is a psychosocial researcher and practitioner whose work is grounded in issues of coloniality and the theories and practices of institutional analysis. His current research projects examine digital cultures and the Alt-Right, psychotherapy's aesthetics practices, and the resistant networks formed by Latin American diasporic communities.

Research interests

Anthony’s work transverses issues of biopolitics, digital cultures, dataveillance, aesthetics, mental health, micro-fascism, politics, philosophy and psychoanalysis. Specifically, his research engages with the practice and legacy of Frantz Fanon, the coloniality of institutional structures, schizoanalysis and the ethico-aesthetic, and zapatismo, the political philosophy of the Zapatista resistants.

Anthony is the author of Resistance, Revolution and Fascism: Zapatismo and Assemblage Politics and an editor, with Rob White and David Hancock, of Spaces of Crisis and Critique: Heterotopias Beyond Foucault. He is currently completing a monograph on digital media, psychometrics and the alt-Right provisionally titled The Mass Psychology of Fascism in the Age of Machines: Data, Surveillance and Control.

Consultation and Reflective Practice

Dr Faramelli is a group practitioner with a specialty in institutional analysis and reflective practice for staff teams working in mental health and housing. He also has experience consulting for arts and culture organisations. He currently works as a consultant and reflective practice facilitator for the Housing Solutions service in Southwark Council. Past clients include charities providing accommodation for individuals with complex needs / multiple disadvantages (substance misuse, people who hear voices / have visions and/or other unusual experiences and beliefs).
